The Competition
In 2019, the Sheffield Synchronized Skating Academy set out on a mission to shake up the sport in the UK. Run by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Steel City Trophy has welcomed 1000s of skaters from around the World, even reaching as far as Australia!
Spread out over 3 days at iceSheffield, we pride ourselves on giving the skaters, coaches and officials the best experience and a big Yorkshire welcome. We were also nominated for the OneTeamMvmt's fan choice award for 2022's best compeition!
The Venue
Built in 2003, the twin Olympic pad facility was a first of it's kind in the UK. Costing £15 million, the main pad boasts a seating capacity of 1500. In 2022, the venue also hosted the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating - MK John Wilson Trophy.
The rink is a short bus or tram ride away from the city centre, Valley Centertainment and the Meadowhall shopping mall, giving plenty of accommodation and entertainment while in the city.
Across the road is the English Institute of Sport, which was used to host the British athletes during the 2012 London Olympics.
The City
Positioned on the edge of the beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park and the Pennines, Sheffield is the original "Steel City", with a tradition of steelworks dating back hundreds of years. In the heart of the UK, Sheffield has a rich and diverse culture and its Ice Arena, iceSheffield, is easily accessible for all national and international teams, with great transport links by road, rail and air.
Sheffield has gained the accolade of the greenest city in England, with more trees per person than any other European City. Bordering the Peak District National Park, you can see why.
